Okay, here we go:
"They Come!" is my personal remake of MindControl Software's game "Oasis".
I know Oasis since it's beginnings, joined the beta testing team, I even bought the special edition of Oasis, only offered to their beta testers.
But all the time I wanted to code my own version with a different theme!
"They Come!" plays in a sci-fi world where you are the commander of the human star fleet and you have to defeat the aliens that approach your galaxy through worm holes.
Unfortunately you only have 80 moves to prepare each sector of your galaxy before the aliens come (that's why the game is called what it's called).
Research new technologies, unite planets and establish space routes, find the rebels and convince them to join you, search for the alien planets that hide fragments of the ultimate artifact to close all wormholes and free mankind for ever!
And if you were successful why not swap positions and become the alien queen, trying to grow your horde of aggressive aliens and enter the human sectors through worm holes to destroy their colonies and conquer the universe for the glory of your race?
Nice intro, eh? Unfortunately the game is not done yet but I hope to finish it this year
Little gimmicks I have planned for the game (some of which are already in or at least working):
procedurally generated space backgrounds and planets for every new sector,
procedurally generated space ships, asteroids, satellites, route signals,
procedurally generated campaigns and scenarios,
nice effects using the TimelineFX particle engine,
nice overall features (GUI, app modules, player profiles and high score stuff using the mbmFramework of course),
maybe a level editor to create premade campaigns to share between players
and everything else that gets in due to feature creep
Luckily I cannot attach a screen shot to this post so you won't have to burst out laughing on a screen full of placeholder crap
But you can always read in my blog [url="http://www.haaks.net"] where I promised to show screen shots as soon as the space background and ship generation is working…
Cheers,
Thomas
